It has been a while since MICS has put out any communications about the various projects we have on the go. But, we have just been informed that due to our efforts we have been awarded $30,000 from B.C. Community Gaming Capital Project Grant. We applied to this grant to replace our tanker as we have been using bubble gum and duct tape to keep her running and have been lucky to keep passing the inspections.
The Tanker (Truck 3) has played a pivotal roll in our fire fighting equipment on Mudge and has shuttled thousands of gallons of water for us during fire emergencies.
The grant we have received will be made available to us within a few weeks and we hope to successfully search for a replacement and to have it on island before our fire season starts. This Grant expects us to match the funds 50/50 to what we purchase and by your generous donations over the years we should be able to purchase a suitable tanker that will last us for years to come.
Although this is 100% a Community and MICS board effort a special thanks needs to go out to our Grant Writer extraordinaire, Pat Camp, for the effort it takes to deal with grants and to Chad for the expertize in large equipment.
Thank you everyone for supporting our efforts to help keep the equipment up and running.
Please keep an eye out for more exciting new developments that are coming.
