Dear Mudge Islanders,
Summer is just around the corner and that means it’s time to gear up for the annual Fire Fest, our biggest event of the year. This year the Fire Fest will be on Sunday, July 31st, at Brenda Peacock’s.
MICS relies on events like Fire Fest where, year after year, Islanders show just how generous they are. As most of you know, all of the money raised at MICS events supports the maintenance of the fire-fighting equipment, the purchase of land (a goal we achieved last fall), and now, building our own equipment storage facility to house the three trucks that have proved vital to our safety and security.
We welcome donations of new and very gently used goods, as well as gift certificates, and other such items, for the annual auction. Do please consider reaching out to companies and businesses that you currently patronize to ask for items to donate. Oftentimes just a simple email will generate a positive response. If you have not donated anything in the past, we hope you will make this year your year to make a contribution. And if you have donated in the past, we hope you will do so again this year.
If you have any questions about the kinds of items suitable for the auction, please contact: Scott Flemming, Chad Giesbrecht, John Cameron, Laura Sheldon or any other members of the MICS board.
To drop off your donation, please contact any of the above mentioned or again any member of the MICS board.
Another way you can help make this a successful event is by volunteering your time. We can’t do it without you! Please let us know if you can help out before, during, or at the end of the event.
We are in the early stages of planning but have already booked a band from Victoria and have been working on ideas to make this a fun and enjoyable day for your friends and family.
Watch for updates and posters featuring the entertainment and activities planned for the day, we will be rolling these out in the weeks leading up to the event.
Thanks from everyone on the MICS Board.
